About the Ice Boxes
Each Ice Box sits tightly on its own platform. The Ice Boxes are built with timber studs and plywood.
The Australian Building Code Ice Box is built with timber studs and ply, the roof contains R4 insulation, walls R2 with foil sarking, floors R1.9 foam and foil composite insulation and its window is single glazed with aluminium frame.
The Passive House Ice Box is built with timber stud and orientated strand board (OSB) prefabricated panels, with the roof containing R6 insulation, the walls and floor both R4 insulation and its window is triple-glazed, according to the Passive House Standard.
Both structures are painted.
The Ice Boxes and platforms were built offsite, then delivered and pieced together onsite.
